These two flyers were sent home with the students today. If you didn’t receive them, the PDF link is below. Thank you!
Just a reminder that Kona Ice will be on campus tomorrow (10/22/2015) from 1:15PM. A portion of the day’s sales will be donated to the Liholiho Laulima PTA. So if your child would like to buy some shave ice, don’t forget to remind them to bring their money!
Small – $3.00
Medium – $4.00
Large – $5.00
Also, the PTA will be selling tickets to Kahala Mall’s VME (Very Merry Event), which takes place from Dec. 4 – 6, 2015. During these 3 days, participating stores will offer discounts to anyone who purchases their “passports” for $5. As a non-profit organization, the PTA will keep 100% of the proceeds! Incredible! We do have a limited supply, so as a bonus to our electronic readers, you can print out your order form below and turn it in to your child’s teacher tomorrow! The paper copy will be distributed next Thursday.
For the next two weeks, students will be dismissed from school at an earlier time due to the Parent Teacher Conferences that will take place in the afternoon. The dismissal schedule is as follows:

We hope that your children are enjoying the fall break! Here are some pictures of the Pumpkin Carving event that was held on Wednesday on campus! The week has gone by rather quickly and don’t forget, school resumes on Tuesday!
There will be a Pumpkin Carving event during the Fall Intersession. It will be held on Wed., Oct. 7 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM at the Liholiho Elementary Breezeway (J building by the restrooms). Please bring your own pumpkin. Carving tools, stickers, and markers will be provided.
To RSVP for the event or should you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are an individual with a disability, please contact email@example.com to make arrangements for reasonable modifications and accessibility to school events at least 10 days in advance to the event you wish to attend. Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate your request.
Please consider participating in this event! The money (plus an additional percentage matched by Foodland and Western Union) comes back to Liholiho for teachers’ salaries and school equipment! Thank you!
What is the Give Aloha Program?
Give Aloha is a donation program that benefits schools of choice. During the month of September, when you shop at Foodland you can donate to Liholiho. Western Union and Foodland will match part of every donation.
Why make a Give Aloha donation to Liholiho school?
Donate through Give Aloha to Liholiho to retain current teachers, staff, and programs, and provide your child(ren) with good education and safety. If every Liholiho family donates $100 (maximum of $249 for each Maika‘i card holder account) in September when shopping at Foodland, we will be able to raise enough funds in 2015–16 to pay for:
- Part time teachers, which allows for smaller class sizes
- KIDBIZ 3000 literacy program, which has helped raise reading test scores at Liholiho
- IXL Program support
- Physical Education, and Music programs and teachers
- Reflections Program
- JPO Programs
- Christmas Parade
- And so much more….
When Can I Donate?
You can donate to Liholiho any time you are shopping at Foodland between September 1st — 30th, 2015!
How do I participate?
Present your Maika‘i Card at any Foodland checkout or customer service desk and tell the cashier that you would like to make a donation (cash, check, charge or debit card) of up to $249 to Liholiho Elementary School, Organization Code #77919. If you don’t have a Maika‘i card, simply give your phone number to the cashier, who will process your donation and arrange to have one provided for you later.
ASK THE CASHIER TO GIVE YOU TWO RECEIPTS that will include the amount you donated to Liholiho School. Keep the original receipt for tax deduction purposes and attach the other copy of the receipt to the class donation form. The class donation forms will be sent home on September 1st. Your child and your child’s class will get credit for every receipt attached when the form is returned to the homeroom teacher.
Am I the only person who can make donations on behalf of our family?
No, your relatives, friends, or neighbors can also donate to Liholiho School when they shop at Foodland. They should give you the copy of their receipt, which you can attach to your child’s class donation form and have your child get credit for the donation.
Thank you all upper grade level parents who braved the elements to come out to last night’s Open House event at school! We were fortunate enough to be introduced to all the upper level teachers, listen to School Community Council (SCC) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) presentations, and be treated to a Google Classrooms overview by Mrs. Chang!
Afterwards, all parents and their children marched their way up to the 2nd and 3rd floors of J building to visit with their child’s teacher and view their work! It was a successful event!
Kona Ice will also be making an appearance on campus this afternoon!
Below you will find the lunch menu for September! Enjoy the rest of your week!
