Today is Mrs. Atsuko’s last day with Liholiho. A farewell to her was held in the Hawaiian garden and she was presented with leis and gifts. The students also sang the school song and Hawai’i Pono’i.

She thanked everyone in English and said goodbye and thank you in Japanese. Thank you Mrs. Atsuko for your time at Liholiho! We will miss you.

Thank you to Arlene L. for the brief writeup and pictures!

Hi everyone,

In your child’s folder, you should have received December Fun Fair packet that consists of 5 pages of information and order forms!

1. Introduction Letter

2. Scrips and Wristband Informational Flyer

3. T-shirt order forms which are due Wed., Jan. 8, 2014!  The shirt is designed by our very own Cadi K. (Gr. 3)!

4.  Scrips/Wristbands/Food Pre-order forms are due on Fri., Jan. 31, 2014!  The Sugoi bentos and Subway sandwiches are only available through pre-order and will NOT be available on the day of the fair!  However, there will be a lot of other food items there on the day of the fair!

5. Silent Auction Solicitation Form.  If you provide a service, create goods, own your own business, or have extra gift cards lying around, please consider donating them to the fair. We will be having a silent auction on campus and all proceeds will go to the Liholiho Laulima PTA which then provides much needed funds for school maintenance and improvement.

We have also setup a simple Fun Fair page that you can find here: http://funfair.liholiholaulima.org.

If you have any questions about the fun fair, you can reach us here.

Thank you and remember Fun Fair is Saturday 2.22.2014 from 10:00AM – 4:00PM!

Today is the day of the parade and here are some friendly reminders from Melissa T. (PTA Special Activities):

  • Don’t forget to be at Saint Louis School at about 4:45 pm.  The Waialae Gate closes at 5:50 pm.   All vehicles that arrive after 5:30 pm must exit via the upper campus at Kaminaka Dr.  The later you arrive, the more traffic there will be.
  • Wear your Liholiho shirt or a blue shirt.
  • Check-in with Melissa when you arrive.  Pre-ordered food and pompoms will be passed out at that time.  I will have some extra pompoms available to purchase.
  • Rain or shine, the parade will still go on!  If it’s raining, don’t forget your umbrellas!
  • Portable restroom facilities will be provided.  The ones in the Saint Louis gym will not be available.
  • Some participant parking is available in the parking structure, not around the oval grass area.  It is preferable to be dropped off.
  • The Kaimuki Business & Professional Association (KBPA) is responsible for holding this parade each year.  The main thing they would like to stress this year is for each group to stay together.  If you have previously walked in the parade, you may have noticed how our group is usually spread out about a block’s length :)  I am kindly asking for everyone to try to walk at the same pace as the people around you.  I know if’s hard, especially with little ones, but just do the best that you can.  There will be parade  marshals this year to help keep everyone together as well, so, hopefully, that will help! Thank you in advance!!!
  • SAFETY FIRST – There will be vehicle traffic counter flowing the parade direction, so have your child walk on the right side of the group.

In this past Thursday’s folder, your child received a flyer regarding Dr. Art Costa’s Habits of Mind workshop.  This year, the workshop will be held at Waikiki Elementary School on Mon., Dec. 9th.

It is an informative workshop that explains the “Habits of Mind” that Liholiho implements into their class curriculum at school.

If you are interested in attending, please turn in your form by Wed., Dec. 4th.  Thank you!
