Yesterday, an event was held to thank teachers, staff and volunteers for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

Makua Manu led grades 3 and 4 in a Hawaiian chant, and also led lower grade levels in a “Liholiho Sings to You” performance. Grade 5 gave a preview of their graduation song along with Mr Magnenat and a student band.

Teachers, staff and volunteers were treated to lunch and ice cream.

Click below to see pictures and videos from the event. (Note: The video at the end is of a Kindergarten student (Enzo) showing off his impressive dance moves (along with some 5th grade backup dancers)! The video didn’t pick up the song very well, so just imagine Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic” playing in the background!)

Hello Liholiho Ohana,

Hope you’re enjoying the last week of school! We have a bunch of pictures to share with you. First, here are pictures from the service group field trip which was to Tiki’s Family Fun Center. Service groups include JPO’s, JOA’s (Junior Office Assistants), Student Council, and Peer Mediators. You will be proud to know that our Liholiho students were commended by Tiki’s staff for their outstanding behavior! So kudos to our students!

Hello Liholiho Ohana,

As the school year comes to an end, some of you may be thinking about giving something to your child’s teacher and/or staff. Please remember, it is not necessary and by no means do any of the employees expect gifts from the students and families who attend Liholiho. However, if you feel compelled to give something to your child’s teacher and/or staff member, please remember the following State Ethics Commission’s gift guidelines:

1. The state’s gift guidelines provide that the following are acceptable (These guidelines may not apply for employees whose official duties include procurement):

“Gifts of Aloha” – modest gifts of nominal value traditionally given as part of Hawaiian culture as a gesture of aloha or goodwill such as a flower lei or a box of cookies to share with the office – and other gifts of nominal value such as small promotional business items (e.g. pens with company logo).

Meals and “Food and Drink” types of events valued at under $25. This limit applies to the whole event.

What does this means is? Please keep your gift value under $25.

Thank you!
