Hello!

It is quite hard for us to believe that the year has flown by so quickly!  We are a little over 3 months away before the end of the school year!

One thing the PTA board needs to take care of on an annual basis is the recruitment of new PTA board members, who are enthusiastic about helping the school and our students achieve more!

I can personally tell you (Lawrence the web guy, here) that it has been a very fun and rewarding experience for me.  The group of individuals that make up the board are an incredibly talented and hard-working bunch!  I have really enjoyed working with ALL of them for the past 5 years (through school furloughs, school consolidations, and a spectacular Fun Fair) and I look forward to continue working with them next year!

Unfortunately, parents need to leave the board due to their child graduating or personal obligations they need to fulfill and we do need to address these vacancies.

WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP in filling these vacancies! If yourself or someone you know would like to join our board, please contact us and we can provide more information to you! For the next school year, we will have the following positions open on the board:

President
Secretary
Donations
Fundraising
May Meeting Chair
March Meeting Chair

Thank you for making it this far into the message! Please feel free to contact us or email nominations@liholiholaulima.org with any questions you may have or if you’d like to nominate yourself, a friend, or family member!

Get ready to lace up those running shoes because the Keiki Run is here! The 2015 Keiki Great Aloha Run on February 14, 2015 is a great way for the whole family to spend an active and healthy morning together. The race is a safe, 2-mile run around the Neal Blaisdell Center and McKinley High School that is open to students in grades K-5 along with their family and friends. There will be many race day events including the Great Aloha Run Fitness Expo, pre and post-race festivities, and demonstrations of school fitness activities. Students and families can walk, run, or stroll at their own pace.

This is a great opportunity to also help raise money for our PE program here at Liholiho! For every person registered under Liholiho Elementary School, the Keiki Run will donate $15 per person back to our PE program! Last year we raised enough money to buy new jump ropes, soccer balls, and a stereo system to play music while we exercise during class! This year we plan on buying even more great equipment for our students to use to stay physically active!

To register for this great event, go to https://flpregister.com/125.

After registering online, please fill out the bottom portion of the attached flier and return to your teacher or the school office.

For more information on this event, please see the attached flier or contact us!

Are you an avid runner?  Was your New Year’s resolution this year is “to be more active”?

Here is your chance to help raise money for the school and participate in this year’s Hapalua race at a discounted price!

The Hapalua is a half-marathon (13.1 miles) that starts off at Duke Kahanamoku statue and finishes at Kapiolani park.  Participants will receive a shirt, a medal, and a wonderful feeling of accomplishment when crossing the finish line!  For more information you can visit the Hapalua site.

Liholiho PTA has created a Hapalua Team page to help raise money for the school and also provide interested participant a discounted fee for the Hapalua.  This is how it works:

1. Click on this link http://www.crowdrise.com/liholiholaulimapta

2. Click on the “Fundraise for this campaign” button and sign up for an account. Or if you already have an account, use your login.

3. When you raise $30 for the school, contact us and we will send you a code that will reduce the registration fee to $40 (currently the fee is over $100)!  The more money raised, the more it will benefit our school and students!

4. Register for the Hapalua race here and don’t forget to put the code in the “Discount Code” section!

5. Keep raising funds and don’t forget to train for the race!

Last year, thanks to the successful efforts of the participants, we were able to raise over $700 for the school!

If you do have any questions, please feel free to contact us.  A flyer will be sent out next week with this information!  Thank you!
