Click below to see a few pic­tures from Adopt A School Day, which hap­pened in ear­ly Decem­ber. Vol­un­teers from the Hawaii Jaycees-Chi­nese Chap­ter helped devel­op the Hawai­ian Gar­den by build­ing planter box­es and prepar­ing the soil. Stu­dents and par­ents helped paint the planter box­es and moved mulch to the Aina In Schools gar­den.

Thank you very much to the Hawaii Jaycees and to every­one who helped!

  2. Jan­u­ary Lunch Menu — please note that Jan­u­ary 16 is now a SCHOOL DAY. The orig­i­nal­ly sched­uled Jan­u­ary 16 Pro­fes­sion­al Devel­op­ment day is can­celled and will now be on Feb­ru­ary 16. So:
    Jan 16 — SCHOOL DAY
    Feb 16 — NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS

Here are pic­tures from last week’s Gar­den Par­ty. It was a lot of fun, espe­cial­ly for the kids — they could play with dirt and it was OK!

Thank you to Mr. Marsh, vol­un­teers, and peo­ple from the ‘AINA in Schools pro­gram! Gar­den beds and now ready for fall lessons and Gar­den Club activ­i­ties!

Hel­lo,

It looks as if we had some hard­work­ing par­ents and stu­dents help­ing out in our beau­ti­ful gar­den on a warm Tues­day after­noon!  Thank you to the stu­dents and par­ents for com­ing out and break­ing a sweat on a week­day, we very much appre­ci­ate it!! And thank you to Arlene Liao (newslet­ter edi­tor) and Tony Con­sil­lio for their great pic­tures!

Isn’t it amaz­ing how won­der­ful the gar­den beds look on cam­pus?  The sun­flow­ers are just so beau­ti­ful!  We’d like to con­tin­ue enhanc­ing the love­ly area on Tue. Feb. 26 from 2:30 — 4:00P.

We will:

  • Har­vest, com­post and mulch the ‘AINA IS gar­den beds
  • Turn the com­post piles
  • Build an out­door gar­den hale
  • Light snacks and water will be pro­vid­ed (Please bring your own water bot­tles)

Items to bring:

  • Tools labeled with your name: shov­el, buck­et, hard rake, and wheel­bar­row (if you have them)
  • Closed-toe shoes, hat, clothes that can get dirty, gloves
  • Sun­screen (we will be work­ing out in the sun!)

Good morn­ing!

We hope that every­one had a great week­end and are ready for anoth­er week of school.  Just a reminder that for the next 2 weeks, school dis­missal is 1 hour ear­li­er because of the Par­ent Teacher con­fer­ences.
